Simi Valley Approves Purchase of Smart Irrigation Controllers

Post

The Simi Valley City Council has approved the purchase of 85 smart irrigation controllers to help meet its mandated goal of 15% overall water use reduction by June 30, 2010.

The city is responsible for watering about 140 acres of landscaped areas. Landscape and yard irrigation use two thirds of the city’s water. Currently, 81 of the city’s 249 irrigation controllers are “smart.” With the new addition, it would bring the number of “smart” irrigation controllers to 166, with an expected increase of 20 percent in savings from reduced water use and water rebates.
