Colleagues:
We are writing to let you know about a great new resource to help counties and cities connect families with affordable health insurance for their children. The “Insuring Kids Online Resource Center” was developed by the Institute for Local Government. The Institute is the non-profit research arm of the California State Association of Counties and the League of California Cities.
The “Insuring Kids Online Resource Center” (www.ca-ilg.org/InsureKids) offers:
- Easy-to-follow, step-by-step information on how to get started;
- Best practices and tips for success;
- Templates and resources; and
- Much, much more.
Communities in our counties participated in a three-year program called “Communities for Healthy Kids.” They helped identify the best ways for local officials to connect with parents whose children are eligible for affordable health insurance. The Online Resource Center is based upon best practices and lessons learned by California counties and cities. The lessons learned are highlighted in the Online Resource Center and hope you will take a few minutes to look at the site.
Counties and cities have unique opportunities to help their residents. We encourage you and your staff to visit the Online Resource Center and consider how your agency might use it to help eligible families in your community obtain no- or low-cost health insurance for their children.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Wendy Chang, Institute for Local Government, Program Coordinator, 916-658-8298 (wchang@ca-ilg.org).
Thank you.
