In California, it is illegal for immigration consultants to refer to themselves as “notarios”, to make false or misleading statements, or make any guarantees or promises that are not based on any factual information.

USCIS’s Public Service Announcements warn “The Wrong Help Can Hurt – Beware of Immigration Scams.”

All printed materials and radio PSA scripts are available in English and Spanish; information in 12 additional languages (Arabic, Chinese, Creole, French, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Urdu) will be available online.

Toolkit to Combat Widespread Problem of Immigration Fraud includes posters and comic books/graphic novels in Spanish, Chinese and English that are tailored to reflect scams that are typically directed at different ethnic communities.  If you would like to post in your city and county buildings (libraries, social service agencies, etc.) please download or contact www.ilrc.org
