Fresno’s Census 2010 Efforts

Post

Learn what the City of Fresno is doing to ensure a complete count for the 2010 Census.

On April 23, 2009, the City of Fresno proclaimed its commitment to partner with the U.S. Census Bureau to ensure a full and accurate census count. Since then, the City of Fresno’s Census 2010 Complete Count Committee (composed of Council President Larry Westerlund, Councilmember Xiong, and Councilmember Sterling, city staff, the U.S. Census Bureau, and community leaders) have been working together to lay the groundwork for a successful 2010 Census.

On August 26, 2009, Mayor Swearengin hosted a Complete Count meeting with the U.S. Census Regional Director James Christy, along with numerous community leaders and partnering organizations to begin the important collaborative work that is necessary to succeed in this effort. Since then the Complete Count Committee has worked with faith and community based organizations, businesses, schools and local media to ensure that Fresno residents get counted.
