BOOST Imperial Valley supports seven cities (Brawley, Calexico, Calipatria, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial, and Westmorland) and Imperial County as well. The Valley contains some of the largest lithium deposits in the world, underground, near the Salton Sea, a region also known as “Lithium Valley.” BOOST is helping the Valley access critical funding, organize more effective systems, and build long-term institutional strength in preparation for a widespread shift in its economic future.

The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) and ILG launched BOOST Imperial Valley in 2024 as part of the Imperial Valley Ecosystem Initiative. That Initiative is a program designed to help Imperial Valley communities access federal, state, and public investments to meet their infrastructure needs and community development goals.
