About Holtville

Founded in 1903 and later incorporated in 1908, the City of Holtville is the oldest city in the Imperial Valley and the sixth-largest city in Imperial County, known as “The Carrot Capital of the World.” In February 1904, the post office opened, and the name was changed from Holton to Holtville to avoid potential confusion with Colton in San Bernardino County. Holtville is located 10 miles north of Mexicali, with easy border access through the East Port of Entry just a few miles directly south on State Highway 7.
