Fellowship Program for Graduate Students

Image of Fellowship Program for Graduate Students The Institute is in the process of developing a special fellowship program for graduate students in public administration (or a related field) who are interested in local government careers. The program is still under design but will likely involve inviting selected MPA students working in California local agencies to come to Sacramento for a week to learn more about how local government relates to the state.

The internship program honors the career and commitment of Don Benninghoven, who has been involved with the Institute in several capacities: as a League of California Cities staff member, as the League’s executive director, as the founding executive director of the Cities-Counties-Schools Partnership, and until 2009, as an Institute board member.

The Institute is in the process of raising funds to support this fellowship program on an ongoing basis. To inquire about the present status of funding for fellowships or making a contribution to honor Don’s public service and help fund the fellowship program, contact info@ca-ilg.org.
