The Institute for Local Government (ILG) is currently recruiting for a Program Coordinator I for the Collaboration and Partnerships and Local Government Basics Programs. The Program Coordinator works with other staff to assist local communities to understand and enhance the role of collaborations and partnerships with public, non-profit and private organizations, and in promoting the development of communities that are healthier and more socially, fiscally, economically and environmentally sustainable.
The Institute is in the process of developing a special fellowship program for graduate students in public administration (or a related field) who are interested in local government careers. The program is still under design but will likely involve inviting selected MPA students working in California local agencies to come to Sacramento for a week to learn more about how local government relates to the state.
The internship program honors the career and commitment of Don Benninghoven, who has been involved with the Institute in several capacities: as a League of California Cities staff member, as the League’s executive director, as the founding executive director of the Cities-Counties-Schools Partnership, and until 2009, as an Institute board member.
The Institute is in the process of raising funds to support this fellowship program on an ongoing basis. To inquire about the present status of funding for fellowships or making a contribution to honor Don’s public service and help fund the fellowship program, contact email@example.com.
