Nearly a hundred youth commissions and councils are at work in California's cities and counties, contributing their actions, ideas and services to improve their communities. The Public Engagement and Collaborative Governance program provides a range of resources to support these youth engagement efforts and to help commission and council staff share stories and information with one another.

City and county youth commissions and councils provide opportunities for youth service and development and offer young people a means for their voices to be heard in local government decision-making. According to information gathered by the Institute for Local Government's Public Engagement and Collaborative Governance program, more than 100 such commissions are at work throughout California.Read more »
