Description

This free one-hour and 15-minute webinar, the third in a series offered through the Institute’s Sustainable Communities Learning Network, explored options and opportunities to fund local parks and open space. Joseph Fletcher, a long time city attorney, discussed the basics of joint use as an approach to fund park space. Mr. Hayduk from the Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District talked about the Arroyo Simi Greenway project, an example of an open space project being jointly funded through grants and various city and county partners. Finally, the California Department of Housing and Community Development briefly discussed the 2011 notice of funding for the Housing-Parks Related Program, an innovative funding opportunity for local governments to create or rehabilitate parks.

The Institute for Local Government is the non-profit research arm of the League of California Cities and the California State Association of Counties.
