Transportation is the largest generator of greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing the number and length of vehicle trips and engine idling reduces those emissions. Efficient transportation systems also conserve fuel and reduce travel costs and expensive road repairs.
This report evaluates local policy options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from personal transportation, such as cars and trucks. The report was released in October 2009 by the Energy Policy Initiatives Center, a research center at the University of San Diego School of Law.
