This article (see box at right) offers a handy checklist of items to consider.  The items on the list were collected from various recommendations by local agency professional groups and practices employed by California local agencies.

Whether each item on the checklist makes sense for a given community depends on a number of factors, including community interests and the local agency’s available resources. This includes the resources to keep information current once it has been posted.
