  • City and County Youth Commissions and Councils in California Roster
    The PECG has compiled the following list of California city and county youth commissions and other local government youth organizations to support communication among these groups and to provide information to those local officials who wish to start a youth commission in their community. Changes and additions to this roster are welcomed and can be emailed to Carmen Pereira at cpereira@ca-ilg.org.
  • ILG Develops Briefing Papers for Youth Commissions
    This article describes and provides links to Briefing Papers, concise two-page documents that provide teens with background information about a timely topic and concrete ideas for how youth commissions and advisory councils can take action to address the issues in their communities.

    This article, published in the September 2008 issue of Western City magazine, provides highlights of several California youth commissions, describes elements of successful youth commissions, and more.
  • Regional Meetings Advances Youth Public Engagement
    This article describes the Institute's efforts in organizing meetings around the state in an effort to support effective youth commissions and authentic youth public engagement.
  • Innovations in Resident Civic Education and Engagement
    This was a session at the 2009 League of California Cities Annual Conference. The panel at the session shared stories about youth civic education, discussed citizen academies for Cantonese speakers, and discussed the role of new civic engagement manager positions in California cities.
