  • Enacted a “Dark Sky ordinance that calls for a reduction in the street light glare and light escaping from businesses
  • Has built 27 miles of bike lanes since the 1990’s and has an additional 37 miles planned

  • From 2003 to 2008, the community reduced its power bills by nearly 21 percent, while city facilities cut their electricity use by 6 percent totaling a savings of about 14.9 million kilowatt hours

  • Installed a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) refueling station adjacent to the school bus yard as a part of the ongoing citywide effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The new facility will provide a safe and clean refueling station for CNG buses operated by the BUSD, Pass Transit, and the Riverside Transit Agency
  • Golf Cart Transportation Plan to encourage the increased use of alternate, clean, nonpolluting forms of transportation
  • Green Building Program Resolution provides an “express lane” for all new and existing projects that are being built or renovated in the City of Beaumont to the standards of the California Green Builder Program

Beaumont Hits a Home Run by Delamping

The City of Beaumont hit a home run in saving money and energy by reducing the number of lights at a baseball field in a city park. Working with a sports lighting designer, the city achieved a higher lighting level by actually reducing the number of lights.
