IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE: Urbemis version 9.2 requires Microsoft's .Net Framework to be installed on your computer. If you are running the Vista operating system, the .Net Framework is part of the operating system, and you do ~NOT~ need to install it separately. If you are running Windows XP, or Windows 2000, you will need version 2, or version 3 of the .Net Framework installed on your system. If you are not sure if you have the framework on your system, try installing Urbemis. If the .Net Framework is not installed, you will receive an error and you will not be able to install Urbemis. Follow these links to Microsoft's web site to obtain the .Net Framework: Version 2.0 Version 3.0 Please read and follow Microsoft's directions for installing the Framework. For additional information, consult our FAQ.

There is one installation file for Urbemis 9.2 - a .msi file. Urbemis version 8.7 has two files - a .msi file and a .cab file. Save this/these file(s) into a temporary directory, or onto your desktop. Navigate to the .msi file and double click it to start the installation. An installation wizard will step you through the process of installing Urbemis onto your computer. After you have installed Urbemis, you may delete the .msi (and .cab) file(s).

The Urbemis installation program requires Microsoft's Installer software version 2.0 or higher to be installed on your computer. Most versions of the Windows operating system after Windows 98 will have this software already available as part of the operating system. However, if you are unsure whether the Windows Installer is present then run the MSIEXEC command from the Start -> Run dialog. Please see our FAQ for more details.

NOTE: In Version 9.2.4 the database structures were modifed to include data locations for Named Equipment Lists. The first time Urbemis 9.2.4 runs, it will automatically upgrade any databases that it finds stored in the 'Data' directory.

IMPORTANT If you changed the default location for the Data directory by editing the configuration file, you must do the following steps. First, after installation of 9.2.4 edit the configuration file and make sure it still has the correct directory. Before you run Urbemis 9.2.4 for the first time, you must move two files from the default Data directory, into your data directory. These two files are upgrade.txt and NamedEMS.xml. The upgrade.txt file tells Urbemis to upgrade all of the databases it finds in the directory. The NamedEMS.xml is required for that upgrade.
