In 2009, the Planning Division led a city-wide effort to develop a Climate Action Plan that included extensive technical studies and outreach with the public, homeowners associations and the business community. The City Council adopted the plan in December 2009. The goal of the Climate Action Plan is to help the City and San Leandro residents, property owners and business owners reduce carbon emissions by 25% below 2005 levels by the year 2020.
