If you are experiencing a life threatening illness, call 911.

You have the right to:

• Be taken to the nearest emergency room that is accepting patients for emergency care (even if it is not the hosptial that is contracted with your insurance provider).

• Be informed of the need to transfer to a network hospital before you are transfered and once your medical situation is no longer an emergency (if you are out of the area of your contracted provider).

• If you are taken to the hospital by ambulance, be sure to let your doctor and health plan know you are in the hospital right away. They will help coordiante your care.
