In 2011, the City of Santa Cruz adopted its first Climate Adaptation Plan. The City updated its Climate Adaptation Plan (2018-2023) in English & Spanish languages. In connection with the CAP, the City updated its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (approved by FEMA and CalOES). 

In 2011, the City of Santa Cruz adopted its first Climate Adaptation Plan. The City updated its Climate Adaptation Plan (2018-2023) to include:

  • The City’s first sea level rise vulnerability assessment, producing climate hazard map projections at 2030, 2060 and 2100.
  • The City’s first social vulnerability assessment, producing maps with census blocks deemed the highest socially vulnerable as they intersect with climate hazard map projections.
  • Updated non-coastal impacts and progress made since 2011 Plan adopted
  • Updated and prioritized adaptation strategies
