Agencies Resolve Football Stadium Dispute in Mediation

Post

A developer’s effort to site a football stadium created tensions between the cities of Industry and Walnut in southern California.  These tensions led to a lawsuit under the California Environmental Quality Act.

A mediation process resolved the agencies’ concerns; unfortunately, not so with a community group that filed a parallel suit.

Litigation by one public agency challenging the adequacy of the environmental review for the stadium became the subject of legislation (AB 81xxx) to exempt the stadium from such review.

A letter from the City of Walnut’s attorney explains the city’s reasons for mediating and settling the dispute.  See this letter and other materials relating to this dispute in the pod at right.
