The Ethics program promotes public confidence and trust in local agency decision-making by helping local officials understand the unique legal and ethical obligations of being a public servant.
Intergovernmental Collaboration
The Intergovernmental Collaboration Project identifies opportunities for local agencies to work together in service to shared constituencies, as well as alternatives to litigation for resolving disputes among local public agencies.
Local Government 101
Local Government 101 provides information about the nuts and bolts of local government structures and processes for newly-elected officials, newly-hired staff, the media and members of the public.
Public Engagement
The Public Engagement program assists local officials in supporting informed and effective civic engagement in public decision-making and to help local officials in California successfully navigate among the growing number of community engagement options that bring the public's voice to the table on important issues.
Sustainable Communities
The Sustainable Communities program encompasses the following areas:
- Climate Change
The Climate Change program (formerly known as the California Climate Action Network) helps California communities play a leadership role both to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to prepare for the consequences of climate change.
- Healthy Communities
The Healthy Communities program provides support and resources local officials can use to protect and improve community health by integrating health considerations into their planning, land use and other decisions and connecting working families with no- and low-cost health insurance for their children.
- Land Use and Environment
The Land Use and Environment program provides resources and education to local officials on the linkages between land use patterns and public health outcomes. - Sustainable Communities Learning Network
The Sustainable Communities Learning Network (SCLN) helps local officials, staff, and others share information and resources to support the development of communities that are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable.
