A Local Official’s Guide to Selecting a Conflict Resolution Professional for Inter-Agency Disputes
This guide outlines a six-step strategy for selecting an effective conflict resolution professional.
The Institute is very grateful to McDonough, Holland & Allen PC and the JAMS Foundation, whose financial support made this pamphlet possible.
Conflict resolution professionals use a range of approaches including conflict assessment, fact-finding, conciliation and mediation (collectively, alternative dispute resolution or ADR).
The nature of the disagreement or dispute will determine which tool will be most useful.
Anything you can do to make others aware of these resources would be most appreciated. A sample article is available in the Documents & Resources area at right.
