The City of Redwood City has adopted local ordinances that are
more stringent than the 2008 Building Energy Efficiency
Standards. These ordinances were approved by the California
Energy Commission on May 5, 2010.
The plan for this 44 unit single resident occupancy housing
project is to make it 100% energy self-sufficient using a mix of
green building and energy efficiency techniques and solar
photovoltaic generation.
Riverside has a variety of green building programs, including the
Riverside Green Builder program which offers new home builders
expedited processing and utility meter approval. In addition,
rebates are available through the city’s municipal electric and
water utilities for energy and water efficiency retrofits on
existing residential and commercial buildings.
