Contributing to the Institute’s Endowment is a way to express an
enduring commitment to good government at the local level.
Donations can be gifts of cash or appreciated property or
securities. Donations may be given in memory or honor of public
servants. Public officials leaving office may also donate surplus
campaign funds. The Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization, which
means gifts may involve tax advantages.
Officeholders and those leaving office have the opportunity,
under the state’s political reform laws, to donate campaign funds
to charitable organizations such as the Institute for Local
Government.
