officials about what course of action best serves the public’s
interests. Sometimes, these disagreements lead to lawsuits, which
can be expensive and divisive.
The California Bar has adopted guidelines to foster levels of
civility and professionalism that exceed the
minimum requirements for professional ethics. This includes a
suggestion that attorneys discuss alternative dispute resolution
with their clients.
