The 2010 Census: Ensuring a Complete Count in California

The 2010 Census: Ensuring a Complete Count in California

Census 2010 Enters Final Stretch! Check out new links below to learn about events and resources to reach hard to count populations during the final stretch of Census 2010.

Our 2010 Census pages provide local officials with information and resources about local and statewide efforts to ensure a complete count of all Californians. Find information here from the US Census Bureau, California Complete Count and other groups working to ensure that all residents in the state are counted.

A full and accurate count is important in California as an undercount may result in the loss of a Congressional seat, inaccurate reapportionment or redistricting boundaries, and ten years of reduced federal funding due to a lower population count.  Census data are also used to make decisions about what community services to provide.
