The 2010 Census: Ensuring a Complete Count in California

The 2010 Census: Ensuring a Complete Count in California

Census Day (April 1, 2010) is weeks away. Our 2010 Census pages provide local officials with information and resources about local and statewide efforts to ensure a complete count of all Californians. Find information here from the US Census Bureau, California Complete Count and other groups working to ensure that all residents in the state are counted.

A full and accurate count is important in California as an undercount may result in the loss of a Congressional seat, inaccurate reapportionment or redistricting boundaries, and ten years of reduced federal funding due to a lower population count.  Census data are also used to make decisions about what community services to provide.
