Following the presentation of San Rafael’s Beacon Award, the Beacon Program hosted a Spotlight Awards presentation and knowledge sharing session Friday, September 20 2013 at the League of California Cities Annual Conference.
The Institute for Local Government and the Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative honored the City of San Rafael with a Beacon Award for Local Leadership toward Solving Climate Change during the 2013 League of California Cities Annual Conference in Sacramento.

The Beacon Program Guidelines for Participation and Recognition have been updated to reflect the creation of the Spotlight Awards. The updated guidelines also include additional details about reporting progress.
Over thirty city officials attended a special Beacon Award program meeting at the League of California Cities Annual Conference in San Francisco in September. The local officials gathered to share information about their agencies’ best practice activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save energy and promote sustainability as part of their participation in the Beacon Award: Local Leadership toward Solving Climate Change recognition program.
Cities and counties throughout California are participating in the Institute for Local Government’s sustainability and climate change recognition program, the Beacon Award: Local Leadership toward Solving Climate Change.
